I don't have an 86 catalogue, but I do have an 87! If you want, I'll see if mom doesn't mind me scanning Molly's pages when I get home? It's fun to look through and see how small the doll's collections used to be...

Wow -- a 1987 catalog! Take good care of that thing -- it's worth a lot of money! I don't think I have seen anything earlier than 1988 on eBay. I collect AG catalogs, and the earliest ones I have are from 1991 -- the dolls were SO stunning back then (they're still gorgeous, of course, but not like back then).
The only thing I miss when I'm looking through a really early catalog is that there is no Today stuff. I just LOVE the retired AGOT outfits and accessories!

Thanks Skittl1321. I will take a better look at Molly's body to get an idea about age. It wouldn't surprise me if she (Molly) is one of the originals. My neighbor is elderly. The doll sat on her spare bed. My neighbor loves to know the doll is being played with (and taken care of).
I'll just look for a less expensive catalog with hopefully Molly on the cover.

My neighbor gave my DD her Molly. Molly's clothes indicate she was made in 1986. We like to keep a catalog for each doll. So, does anyone have a 1986 catalog with Molly and willing to sell it? I already checked ebay.
Thanks

1986 was the first year that AG dolls were made- and only at the end of the year. Finding a catalog will be hard, probably expensive, and quite a find.
The clothes are not the best indication of the date the dolls were made. I have some Addy clothes that have a 1986 copyright on them- and Addy was released in 1993! The date on the clothes is a copyright date, not a maker date. It can be before or even after the date of the object made.
If Molly was made in 1986 she would most likely have a white body. All of the first dolls had white bodies. All of the dolls switched to tan bodies after Felicity was released. Occasionally you will find tan body dolls that were made before Felicity was released. I recieved my Kirsten for Christmas of 1990 and she has a light tan body.
Good luck in finding your catalog.

I also collect the catalogs and have at least one for every year they were published. I'm working on getting all 4 seasons for each year. I need 10 more catalogs and the collection will be complete I have a 1987 cataog and it is the holiday one. I believe this was the first catalog published. They first sold things for the Christmas Holidays so it would make sense they would use 1987. If anyone knows more and that there is a 1986 catalog I would love to know about it.

My first catalog I saved was from 1988 but I think it is the same inside. I have scans if you want them.
